Monday Mailbag: July 11, 2011

Welcome to…

Location: Kentucky

Population: 4,300,000

Entertainment: Mammoth Cave National Park, horse racing, bluegrass music, steamboat races

Famous Former Natives: Abraham Lincoln, Steven Curtis Chapman, Nick Lachey,

Home to: Kentucky Derby, National Corvette Museum, Kentucky Fried Chicken, Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory

Random Facts: Kentucky ranks 4th among states in the number of automobiles and trucks assembled, the state is split between Central and Eastern time zones, home to the highest per capita number of deer and turkey in the United States, has the world’s longest cave system, and is the only US state to have a governor who was assassinated while in office (Goebel in 1900)

I've been to Kentucky twice this past year. I have to admit that I didn't do much exploring while here but given the chance I could rock a Kentucky Derby hat at Churchill Downs with the best of them! A visit to the Louisville Slugger Museum would also be much needed. I'll be headed back soon!
